Silvertown, Essex
Silvertown is an urban area to the south of West Ham, lying on the north bank of the River Thames in Essex. It is named after the factories established by Stephen William Silver in 1852. It now lies at the northern end of the Thames Barrier. It is the site of the world's largest sugar refinery. The area is within the council area of Newham.
