Shoulsbury Castle, Devon
Shoulsbury Castle (aka Shoulsbarrow Castle) is small Iron Age multivallate hillfort near Challacombe, Devon. The hillfort enclosure is rectangular in plan with rounded corners and measures up to 470ft long by 460ft wide internally. It is defined by a stone and earth bank measuring up to 4ft wide and 11ft high, beyond which is a berm up to 10ft wide then a partially buried outer ditch. Within the enclosure is a Bronze Age bowl barrow surviving as a circular mound with a central hollow. The site is within the council area of North Devon (Devon).
