Shotton, Durham

Shotton is a deserted mediæval settlement just south of Sedgefield in County Durham. It is visible as a series of banks, ditches, boundary banks, boundary ditches, platforms, enclosures, mounds and a hollow way. The banks average 10 feet in width by two to three feet high and are grass-covered. They appear to represent raised house-platforms and the walls of small enclosures. It is within the council area of County Durham.
