Shoeburyness, Essex
Shoeburyness is a coastal town in Essex. The town grew from the establishment of a barracks in the parish of South Shoebury in the mid 1850s. A garrison town, known as Shoeburyness, grew around the barracks, taking its name from the ness on the coast at the southern end of the parish. In the 20th century, the town grew to encompass the site of South Shoebury Hall and the parish church of St Andrew, as well as the new district of Cambridge Town. The town is within the council area of Southend-on-Sea.
