Shipley, Yorkshire
Shipley is a town in Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The town stands by the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, to the north of Bradford with which it is now contiguous. Shipley, formerly a major centre for textiles, has become, in large part, a commuter suburb. The Victorian model village of Saltaire lies at the edge of the town. The town is within the council area of Bradford.
