Shepherd's Bush, Middlesex

Shepherd's Bush is a metropolitan district in Middlesex. It lies to the north of Hammersmith and forms a western suburb of London. Shepherd's Bush Green was described as such from at least the 17th century, though the area around it remained rural until the early 19th century, from which time semi-detached housing began appearing on the west side of the green. Shepherd's Bush was almost wholly built up by 1900. The Shepherd's Bush Empire (1903) is a famous music venue. The district is within the council area of Hammersmith and Fulham.
