Shantallow is an urban area in Londonderry, County Londonderry. It is within the townland of Shantallow, in the civil parish of Templemore. The townland of Shantallow remained largely rural until the mid 20th century, since when most of the townland has been developed. The areas of Galliagh, Steelstown, Carinhill and Belmont have distinct identities, with the central area of the townland, around Racecourse Road, tending to be known as Shantallow. The area is within the council area of Derry City and Strabane.
