Shandon Park Mound, Down

Shandon Park Mound is a mediæval earthwork mound in the Belfast suburb of Shandon Park, County Down. It is considered likely to be an Anglo-Norman motte, although the name 'sean dun' (old fort) may suggest that it was built on a pre-Norman fort site. It measures 30ft in height, with an oval summit 73ft x 40ft. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Belfast.
