Seven Sisters is a former hamlet (known as Page Green) that is now an urban area in the south of Tottenham, Middlesex. The area lies around the junction of Seven Sisters Road and High Road (Ermine Street). The hamlet of Page Green grew up alongside the Roman road Ermine Street during the mediæval period. The "Seven Sisters" was a ring of seven elm trees lying on the western edge of the green itself, alongside Ermine Street. The trees gave their name to the Seven Sisters Road (1833) and the Seven Sisters station (1872) and the name Seven Sisters took precedence for the area over Page Green. The elms are no longer present but a group of seven hornbeams were planted in their place on the remnant of the green in 1996. The area is within the council area of Haringey.
