Seaforde, Down

Seaforde is a small village in County Down. It is within the townland of Naghan, in the civil parish of Loughinisland. The village is named after the Forde family, Mathew Forde having purchased the village lands in the early 17th century. The village lies to the south of the Seaforde Demesne he established. Mathew Forde built the original mansion on the Seaforde demesne. It was rebuilt in in neo-classical style in 1819 by his descendent Mathew Forde. The parish church was built around 1720 by the Forde family. The village is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
