MenuScutchamer Knob, Berkshire
Scutchamer Knob (aka Scutchamer Hlaew or Scutchamerhlaew) is an early iron Age round barrow alongside the Ridgeway path on East Hendred Down in Berkshire. It is reputedly the place where King Edwin of Northumbria killed Cwichelm of Wessex in AD 636 and has also been called Cwichelmeshlaew or Cwichelm's Barrow. It is within the council area of Vale of White Horse (Oxfordshire).
