Scarva, Down

Scarva is a village, lying on the east bank of the Newry Canal in County Down. It is within the townland of Scarva, in the civil parish of Aghaderg. John Reilly of Scarvagh House laid out much of the village in the mid-18th century, establishing markets and docks. Scarvagh House is thought to have been built around 1717 by Myles Reilly. St Matthews Church (C of I), the Aghaderg parish church, dates from 1850. The village is within the council area of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon.
