Scargill Castle, Yorkshire
Scargill Castle is a ruined mediæval castle at Scargill, Yorkshire, in the North Riding. The castle dates from the 15th century, built on the site of an earlier castle. The standing remains comprise a gabled 3-storey gatehouse and some flanking fragmentary walls. The fields around Castle Farm and Scargill Farm show evidence of a former dispersed mediæval settlement. The site is within the council area of County Durham.
