Scalby Mills, Yorkshire
Scalby Mills is an suburban village in Yorkshire, in the North Riding. It lies to the north of Scarborough of which it forms a suburb. The Scalby Mills locality, where the Scalby Beck meets the North Sea was a popular location for day-trippers in the 19th century, the Scalby Mills Hotel and Tea Gardens being a major attraction. During the 20th century housing was built to the east of this forming the modern suburban area. It is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
