Sarn Helen is a Roman road running between the Roman forts of Alabum (near Llandovery, Carmarthenshire) and Canovium (near Caerhun, Caernarfonshire). Many sections are used by modern roads while other parts are still traceable. Sizeable stretches that have been lost and are unidentifiable. Debate continues as to the precise course of the Roman road and, indeed, whether it was a single routeway. The route is named after Saint Elen of Caernarfon, said to have ordered the construction of roads in Wales during the late 4th century. A section of the road forms the B4578 to the south of the Tyncelyn crossroads near Llangeitho, Cardiganshire. This section of the road is within the council area of Ceredigion.
