Sandwell, Staffordshire
Sandwell is an urban area in the north of Smethwick, Staffordshire. The terraces known as Sandwell Place were erected in the 1880s, named after the nearby Sandwell Park and Sandwell Park Colliery. Since the mid 19th century the area has become known just as 'Sandwell', though this causes confusion with the modern council area name. It is within the council area of Sandwell.
