Sands End, Middlesex

Sands End is a riverside urban area in the east of Fulham, Middlesex. Once a marshy area, by the 19th century improved drainage had seen the area became a site of orchards and market gardens. During the 19th century the area saw the development of riverside industries and terraced housing. Following post-war industrial decline, the wharves, industrial acres and workers' cottages have given way to developments such as Chelsea Harbour and Imperial Wharf. The area still contains some of its historic properties from 300-year-old cottages to 19th century streets. The area is within the council area of Hammersmith and Fulham.
