Ryton, Durham
Ryton is a small town in County Durham. Traditionally, Ryton's economy was built upon agriculture and coal mining, with mining being recorded as far back as 1239. Since the decline of the coal industry Ryton became increasingly suburbanised. The town is within the council area of Gateshead.
