Rush Green, Essex

Rush Green is a former hamlet that is now a southern suburb of Romford, Essex. Rush Green, which dates back at least as far as the 17th century, remained a small hamlet until the late 19th century. Romford Cemetery was opened to its north in 1871. The Birkbeck estate (1885) was the first housing development, with significant development following in the 20th century, the southern part of it in the area of the former Dagenham urban district. The West Ham United FC training facility lies at the west of the area. The area is within the council areas of Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham.
