Rubane, Down

Rubane is a village, located on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. It is within the townlands of Echlinville and Rowreagh, in the civil parish of Inishargy. Rubane House dates from around 1850, being a rebuild of a early 18th century building (Echlinville House). The Echlinville Distillery opened on the site in 2007. The village developed from the mid 19th century around the crossroads north of Rubane House. From the mid 20th century it has seen suburban development north-west of the original site in Rowreagh townland. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
