Ruardean Castle, Gloucestershire

Ruardean Castle (aka Ruardyn Castle) is the ruins of a Norman castle in Ruardean, Gloucestershire. It was originally a manor house built in Norman times, crenellated in 1311. The castle suffered major damage during the Civil War. Little now remains of the castle beside some large mounds along with some stone wall surviving on the steep bank side. It is within the council area of Forest of Dean (Gloucestershire).
