Roughan Castle, Tyrone

Roughan Castle is an early 17th-century castle located in the townland of Roughan, County Tyrone. The castle was built in 1618 by Sir Andrew Stewart and was later held by Sir Phelim O'Neill. The castle takes the form of a tall, square tower with rounded towers at each corner. The symmetrical plan with the round towers is reminiscent of mediæval keeps. The monument is in the care of the Department for Communities. The monument is within the council area of Mid Ulster.
