Ross Monument, Down

The Ross Monument is a 99-foot granite obelisk, overlooking Carlingford Lough near Rosstrevor, County Down. It is within the townland of Rosstrevor, in the civil parish of Kilbroney. The monument was erected in 1826 to the memory of Major General Robert Ross (1766-1814), a member of the locally prominent gentry family of Rostrevor House who distinguished himself during the Napoleonic Wars. It is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
