Romiley, Cheshire
Romiley is a suburban village in Cheshire. It lies north of the River Goyt and the Peak Forest Canal. Previously an agricultural area, it grew as a residential area during the Victorian era, especially after the opening of Romiley railway station in 1862. Although now suburban in nature, the village remains surrounded by countryside to the north, south and east, with Bredbury across the Goyt on its west side. The village is within the council area of Stockport.
