Roche Abbey, Yorkshire
Roche Abbey is a ruined 12th-century Cistercian monastery near Maltby, Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The abbey was founded in 1147 by Newminster Abbey, Northumberland, on land donated by Richard de Busli, Lord of Tickhill, and Richard FitzTurgis. It was dissolved in 1538, following which it was stripped of materials and plundered.
