Roby, Lancashire

Roby is a suburban village in Lancashire. It grew from a tenth-century Norse settlement. It is now largely a dormitory suburb of Liverpool. From 1895-1974, for local government purposes, it was part of the urban district of Huyton with Roby. During the 20th century, large areas in this district to the north of Roby were developed as overspill housing for Liverpool. Roby is within the council area of Knowlsey.
