Ring of Gullion, Armagh
The Ring of Gullion is a geological ring dyke in the south-east of County Armagh. The ring dyke was produced when the active volcano's caldera underwent collapse producing a concentric suite of faults providing space into which magma was able to intrude. The area centres on Slieve Gullion and measures around 26 by 11 miles. Around the edge of the ring dyke are several other hills including Camlough Mountain, Mullaghbane Mountain, Sugarloaf Hill and Jonesborough Hill. The area lies within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
