Richardson, Wiltshire

Richardson is a deserted mediæval village near Winterbourne Bassett in Wiltshire. The mediæval settlement survives as a series of low rectangular building platforms, enclosures and trackways located either side of a hollow way which led to a fording point across the river. The settlement was referred to in 1242 as Ricardestone. By 1545 it had largely been abandoned. It is within the council area of Wiltshire.
