Rey Cross, Yorkshire
Rey Cross is an early mediæval wayside cross at Stainmore, Yorkshire, in the North Riding. It is believed to have been erected by King Edwin of Northumbria to mark the boundary of his Kingdom and the Scottish Kingdom of Strathclyde. Eric Bloodaxe, the last Viking King, was killed at Rey Cross in 945. It is within the council area of County Durham.
