Repton School, Derbyshire
Repton School is a historic school, built on the site of the former Repton Priory, at Repton, Derbyshire. The priory was established in the 12th century under the control of Calke Priory. It became a place of pilgrimage on account of the shrine of St Guthlac and his bell, believed to cure headaches. The priory was dissolved in 1538. Only fragments of the priory survive. Following the Dissolution, the site became the basis for Repton School. The majority of the school buildings date from the 17th century. The School was comprehensively altered in the 19th century. The stite is within the council area of South Derbyshire (Derbyshire).
