Randalstown, Antrim
Randalstown is a small town, lying on the River Main in County Antrim. It is within the townland of Randalstown, in the civil parish of Drummaul. Previously known as 'Iron Mills' it was renamed 'Randalstown' in 1667 to mark the marriage of landowner Randal MacDonnell, 1st Marquess of Antrim, to Rose O'Neill of Shane's Castle. Randalstown has a long history of linen and iron industries, an old linen mill chimney from the Old Bleach factory being visible from most parts of the town. The town saw major expansion from the mid 20th century. The town is within the council area of Antrim and Newtownabbey.
