Rainham is a town in Kent. A charter from AD 811 records a grant of land at ‘Roegingaham’ to Wulfred, Archbishop of Canterbury. Rainham was a linear village along the London Road (A2) until the opening of Rainham railway station in 1858 after which the settlement grew rapidly, a growth which continued into the 20th century. The tower of St Margaret's Church was built c. 1480 and is a local landmark. The town is within the council area of Medway.
