Purdysburn, Down

Purdysburn is a small village in County Down. It is within the townland of Ballycowan, in the civil parish of Drumbo. The hamlet was developed for estate works, just outside the Purdysburn Demesne. The first Purdysburn House was built by James Wilson around 1712. It was replaced with a Tudor-Gothic style house in early 19th century house, designed by Thomas Hopper for Narcissus Batt. This house was demolished in the 1960s. The village is within the council area of Lisburn and Castlereagh.
