Prestwold Hall is a historic house at Prestwold in Leicestershire. It sits amidst 2,500 acres of rolling parkland in the heart of the Leicestershire Wolds. The hall has been the seat of the Packe family for almost 400 years and remains so to this day. Before that time, it was the home of the Skipwith family. In the 1760s Charles James Packe rebuilt the Hall and soon after created the park around it. Five years after Charles William Packe inherited the hall, it was largely remodelled by the architect William Burn and it is one of the finest examples of a William Burn house in the neoclassical style. After the death of Major Robert Christopher Packe, who was killed during the Battle of Waterloo, the hall passed to his nephew George Hussey Packe who held the hall and estate until his death in 1874. In 1938 Simon Jasper Packe-Drury-Lowe was born and was an incredibly forward thinker. He was one of the first people in the country to acquire a licence to open his house for weddings and events. Over the last 30 years, Prestwold Hall has hosted over 5,000 weddings and events. The Prestwold Estate also includes Wymeswold Airfield and a number of events are held on the Estate through the year, ranging from festivals to Cross Country Championships. It is within the council area of Charnwood (Leicestershire).
