Prescot, Lancashire
Prescot is a town in Lancashire. The Prescot Playhouse, in use from the mid-1590s to around 1609, was one of the few free-standing theatres outside London. During the 18th and 19th centuries, Prescot was a centre for watch- and clock-making. The 17th century St Mary's Church dominates the town's skyline. Knowsley Park, the estate of Lord Derby, lies to the north of the town. The town is within the council area of Knowsley.
