Poynton, Cheshire
Poynton is a town in Cheshire. It lies on the eastern edge of the Cheshire Plain. It was a mining area from the late Middle Ages until the 1930s. The Macclesfield Canal (1831) passes though the town and the railways arrived from the 1840s. It is now , in large part, a commuter town. The town is within the council area of Cheshire East.
