Poulton-Le-Fylde, Lancashire

Poulton-Le-Fylde is a market town in Lancashire, situated on the Fylde coastal plain. At the time of the Norman conquest Poulton was a small agricultural settlement, but by the post-Mediæval period the town had become an important commercial centre for the region. The Market Place contains many historic buildings including a market cross, stocks, whipping post and fish slabs. The church of St Chad was recorded in 1094, though the current building dates from the mid-18th century. The town is within the council area of Wyre (Lancashire).
