Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a cast iron aqueduct across the River Dee at Pont-Cysyllte, Denbighshire. It was built between 1795 and 1805 to carry the Ellesmere Canal across the valley of the River Dee. It is widely regarded as the most spectacular achievement of waterway engineering in Britain and a pioneer of cast iron construction. It is within the council area of Wrexham.
