Pockthorpe, Yorkshire

Pockthorpe is a deserted village near Nafferton, Yorkshire, in the East Riding. The village remains survive adjacent to the 19th-century Pockthorpe Hall and a modern farm. The village was recorded as 'Pochetorp' in Domesday. The site was enclosed in 1772 and the village was probably fully depopulated at that point, leaving only the hall. In 1849 part of the hall was demolished to make way for the Victorian house that now remains. The hall, the farm and a few scattered cottages comprise the present-day hamlet of Pockthorpe. The site is within the council area of East Riding of Yorkshire.
Historic England Scheduled Monument 1018405.
