Plumstead, Kent
Plumstead is a former village that is now a western suburb of Woolwich, Kent. The manor and parish of Plumstead date from ancient times. The earliest record is from c.970 to 'Plumstede'. St Nicholas' Church dates from the 12th century, with a 17th-century tower. Plumstead expanded rapidly in the 1880s with housing developed for workers at the Royal Arsenal. It is within the council area of Greenwich.
