Perth, Perthshire

Perth is a city and royal burgh in Perthshire, of which it is the county town. It stands on the banks of a broad lower reach of the River Tay. During the Middle Ages, Perth was known as the capital of Scotland. At nearby Scone Abbey was the "Stone of Destiny" where the King of Scots was crowned. The city is within the council area of Perth and Kinross.
