Pershore, Worcestershire

Pershore is a market town on the River Avon in the south-east of Worcestershire. Pershore Abbey, dating from Saxon times, was largely demolished at the Dissolution. The tower, choir and south transept remain, forming the Church of the Holy Cross. The town contains much elegant Georgian architecture. The Pershore Plum Festival is held annually in August to celebrate the local tradition of growing plums. The town is within the council area of Wychavon (Worcestershire).
