Pendleton, Lancashire

Pendleton is a former village that is now an urban area in Salford, Lancashire. The village expanded rapidly in the 19th century with the sinking of Pendleton Colliery and the development of large cotton mills and premises for dyeing, printing, and bleaching. Pendleton became part of the then municipal borough of Salford in 1853. Pendleton is within the council area of Salford.
