Pendle CA, Lancashire / Yorkshire

Pendle is a council area. It forms the lower tier ('district') in a two-tier system of local government, with the Lancashire council area forming the upper tier. Despite being within the Lancashire council area, a large part of the Pendle council area is in Yorkshire (including Barnoldswick and Earby). The name is derived from Pendle Hill which lies in the west of council area.
