Pendeen House, Cornwall
Pendeen House is a historic house near Pendeen, Cornwall. The house was built in the late 17th century and is a fine example of a gentry house of that period. The earliest parts date to around 1670. Pendeen House was historically the seat of the Borlase family, a prominent Cornish gentry family. It came into their possession in 1623 and they 'rebuilt' it in 1670. Among its most famous residents was William Borlase (1696-1772), a distinguished antiquary, geologist, and naturalist. Following the Borlase family's tenure, the house was owned by several other families. The house eventually fell into a state of disrepair before being restored in the 20th century. It is within the council area of Cornwall.
