Pen-y-Darren, Glamorgan

Pen-y-Darren is a village in Glamorgan, forming a suburb of Merthyr Tydfil. The area is most notable for being the site of a 1st-century Roman fort, and during the Industrial Revolution it housed the Penydarren Ironworks. Pen-y-Darren was also used by Richard Trevithick as the location for his experiments into steam locomotion. It is within the council area of Merthyr Tydfil.
