Pemberton, Lancashire
Pemberton is a former civil parish and urban area which is now usually considered a part of Wigan, Lancashire. The civil parish of Pemberton was the basis of Pemberton Urban District from 1894-1904. The area of the urban district was brought within the local government county borough of Wigan in 1904 and the Pemberton civil parish abolished and its area included in the Wigan civil parish in 1920. Since then, Pemberton has increasingly become viewed as a part of the town of Wigan, though it retains a distinct identity. Pemberton is within the council area of Wigan.
