Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire
Pateley Bridge (known locally as Pateley) is a small market town in Yorkshire, in the West Riding. It stands of the River Nidd. Pateley was first recorded in 1175 and granted a market charter in 1320. From the 14th century until the 20th century, Scotgate Ash Quarry despatched hard-wearing sandstone from its site on the northern flank above Pateley Bridge. The Nidderdale Show is held annually on the showground by the River Nidd. It is within the council area of North Yorkshire.
