Oxfordshire CA, Oxfordshire / Berkshire

Oxfordshire is a council area which forms the upper tier in a two-tier system of local government. Several lower-tier council areas lie within its area. The council area has a significantly different area to the historic county from which it takes its name, primarily because it includes a large area in the north-west of Berkshire (which includes Wantage, Faringdon, Abingdon and Didcot). The Oxfordshire council area does not include the Caversham and Stokenchurch areas, which are part of the historic county. There are also several other small differences between the boundaries of the council area and the historic county.
