Oundle, Northamptonshire
Oundle is an ancient town in Northamptonshire, on the River Nene. The Talbot Hotel was rebuilt with stone from the ruins of nearby Fotheringhay Castle and is said to contain the oak staircase that Mary Queen of Scots walked down while being escorted to her execution. The town is within the council area of North Northamptonshire.
